I'll Never Fall-Soobie McCullough (original)

My cute guitar student wrote the lyrics to this song. She is amazing!

26 Beautiful Hearts- Tribute to those in Connecticut (original)

My heart goes out to those who have been effected by the tragedy Friday morning in Connecticut. There's not really anything that can truly help in a situation like this, but I decided I would write a song for those who are in need of comfort at this time. This is for you. 26 Beautiful Hearts Just the day before Not knowing what was in store Families gathered with full hearts Never wanting to be apart They play and they sing Letting Christmas carols ring Cause just the next day There’d be nothing to say Her six year old daughter And his six year old son Were makin Christmas gifts For them to love When the chaos and the screamin Became something they weren’t dreamin Running down halls, tears were shed Tryin to think Christmas carols in their head Tryin to get to a place Where’d they’d be safe But now they sing with the angels up in heaven Connected with those from 9/11 Safe and free from harm There’s a chai

You're An Anchor-Madison Haley

A tribute to my cousin Tess Barker who leaves on her mission to New York this week. I love her very much and look up to her example! Thank you Tess! See you in 1.5:) You’re An Anchor Stormy seas surround us Strong wind blows in the canyon Fire burns the forests But you will not be moved You’ve been through times that were gray There was nothing no one could say But times are new Just look at you You’re an anchor in the stormy seas A shelter from the wind A brick wall that cannot be burned How times have turned We need your wisdom more than ever now Cause you have pulled us through There’s no disaster that can take us out While we look up to you You’re an anchor Doors are shut around you Some may always say no Though we will miss you This is why you have to go You’re an anchor in the stormy seas A shelter from the wind A brick wall that cannot be burned How times have turned They need your wisdom more than ever now

Christmas Would Last All Year- Madison Haley (2011)

Christmas Would Last All Year Green or red or gold or white Stockings the tree the Christmas lights All these things we see and touch Means Christmas to us Hot chocolate or some gingerbread Carols sang, ‘Merry Christmas’ said All these things we taste and say Means Christmas today They say there’s 12 days of Christmas But to us it should last all year The joy of bein jolly Shouldn’t be kept to old St. Nick Could this season last forever If we all became as one If we shown just like the star above Christmas would last all year All year Service, kindness, charity Makes us all the more merry All these things inside we feel Means Christmas is real Smile, laugh, peace and hope No more fallin on a downward slope All these things inside we feel Means Christmas is real     They say there’s 12 days of Christmas But to us it should last all year The joy of bein jolly Shouldn’t be kept to old St. Nick Could this season las

In The Moment- Madison Haley

In The Moment I used to think that I was runnin From what I know to be wrong And the good times would keep on comin But not for long I used to think that everything would work out in the end My life could pass before my eyes Without choices to be made Where’s the laughter in my eyes again The courage to be brave The chance I have to just let go It’s my life I could save Where’s the beauty in the world around I used to see each day To live in the moment Is something I could change I used to think that I was livin Up to my full potential But livin from day to day Doesn’t tend to be substantial Where’s the laughter in my eyes again The courage to be brave  The chance I have to just let go It’s my life I could save Where’s the beauty in the world around I used to see each day To live in the moment Is something I could change A new day, a new dawn It’s comin, it’s here It’s wrapped its arms around me And I have s

Don't Change Tonight- Song #1

2009 was the year that I wrote my very first song ever on the guitar and let me tell you it shocked the world! No one, including myself, thought it would be possible that someone in our immediate Mouritsen family would find a love for singing and writing songs. Somehow I found that love and it's only grown since. Our family friend Dave Foote 'secretly' filmed this song when he asked my sister and I to sing it for him one night when he was in town. Time has definitely flown!

Our Enchanted Night (feat. Joshua Winslow)

Not perfect... but still a good song:)

Little Superman Cape- Mitchel Porter

This is a song I wrote for one of my best and closest friends Mitchel Porter. We met the summer of 2011 at a Tuesday night young men and young women mutual activity and we played basketball. The first thing I learned about him is that he likes to talk. The second thing I learned is that he liked soccer. We had soo much in common (except for soccer haha) and by the next mutual activity, which was a ward cook-off, we were competing against each other and talking about all the crazy things we had done throughout our lives thus far. In the beginning of September, last year, I had an acoustic jam session in my backyard and because of work Mitchel couldn't come until around 11. Although everyone was starting to leave he still showed up and helped me clean up EVERYTHING. He even did the dishes... By the time we were done he had made me promise not to plan anything the next coming Friday because we were going on a date. He wasn't going to take excuses, and plus I really wanted

Music and Lyrics by Madison Haley Mouritsen Videos taken by Matthew Mouritsen

In My Heart

A song dedicated to my wonderful cousin Whitney Mouritsen May and her adorable baby Georgia May. I love you both! In My Heart-Lyrics I’ll sing you through your nightmares And whistle away all your cares Don’t hide from me your fears You’re in my arms you’re bloomin light You’re crystal in the stars at night So innocent and loved I’ll sing until you close your eyes And dream about you and I And daddy holdin your hand I’ll never stop until you’re grown And even then you’re not alone You’ll always be in my heart Lullaby My child Lullaby Goodnight I hope you’ll go where flowers grow Where darkness dares not to follow Please leave a path for me Now I just want you to know I’ll always love you so That will never change I’ll sing until you close your eyes And dream about you and I And daddy holdin your hand I’ll never stop until you’re grown And even then you’re not alone You’ll always be in my heart Lullaby My child L

Kaysville Idol

I had the opportunity to compete in this years Kaysville/Fruit Heights Idol. On the final night I sang an original called "Our Enchanted Night" and ended up taking 2nd place in my age group. I am grateful to all those who came to support me! Our Enchanted Night-Lyrics Starry nights and sparklin eyes We never want to say goodbye And we don’t have to We don’t need to Through that crowd I caught your eye We start to dance, it didn’t take awhile Before I saw that smile And I needed you Somethin special, one of a kind You’re the only thing on my mind I’m alright with that Just fine with that Full moon out on us it shines Spotlighting there is no crime Just you and me Me and you We would need forever For this night to last long enough And as I look around me You’re the only one I can see I’ll remember this night as Our enchanted night In the cool crisp air I’m talking to you There’s not much now we can say or do To ch

Distinguished Young Women

Image
For eight weeks I learned how to perfect myself in multiple areas of my life, some of which being: Fitness, interview skills, presenting myself, on-the-spot answering questions, how to walk in heels (both on flat ground and up and down stairs), how to speak properly, appearance, what not to wear, making friends, how to be a pirate, and many more. As you can tell I had such a good time with the nineteen other girls involved in the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) scholarship program. Although I did not walk away with any cash for college, I did walk away with a new attitude about myself and also with the knowledge that I could conquer hard things. I will never forget the experiences I had there and will cherish the friendships I made forever. During the showcase night we preformed a pirate opening number where we each introduced ourselves to the audience and judges. (Earlier that same day we had each had a ten minute interview with the judges). Following the pirate act we pre

Imagine If...

Everybody has a 'yo u'. Mine is my family and friends who are close to me. Who is your 'you'? Just somethin to think about. Imagine If-Lyrics Imagine if the sun never shone Imagine if there were no flowers to grow Imagine if our hearts didn’t beat Imagine if there was no you and me It’d be as if the moon didn’t rise at night It’d be as if there was no where to run to That’s what it’d be like if there was no me and you My ‘you’ is family And friends who are there to comfort me When I am feeling down My ‘you’ is always there When I need someone who really cares I can’t imagine if they were not there Imagine if nothing would scare us at night Imagine if no wind blew to lift our kite Imagine if our hearts didn’t beat Imagine if there was no you and me It’d be as if a butterfly had no wings It’d be as if the world came crashing down That’s what it’d be like if there was no you and me My ‘you’ is family And f
