Christmas Would Last All Year

Green or red or gold or white
Stockings the tree the Christmas lights
All these things we see and touch
Means Christmas to us
Hot chocolate or some gingerbread
Carols sang, ‘Merry Christmas’ said
All these things we taste and say
Means Christmas today

They say there’s 12 days of Christmas
But to us it should last all year
The joy of bein jolly
Shouldn’t be kept to old St. Nick
Could this season last forever
If we all became as one
If we shown just like the star above
Christmas would last all year

Service, kindness, charity
Makes us all the more merry
All these things inside we feel
Means Christmas is real
Smile, laugh, peace and hope
No more fallin on a downward slope

I’ve learned so many things over this past year that I can’t help but share them. I’ve decided to share what I learned in each month as the year progressed. These lessons include stories, insights, and advice that I was given to get through the good times as well as the hard times. Distinguished Young Women

For eight weeks I learned how to perfect myself in multiple areas of my life, some of which being: Fitness, interview skills, presenting myself, on-the-spot answering questions, how to walk in heels (both on flat ground and up and down stairs), how to speak properly, appearance, what not to wear, making friends, how to be a pirate, and many more. As you can tell I had such a good time with the nineteen other girls involved in the Distinguished Young Women (DYW) scholarship program. Although I did not walk away with any cash for college, I did walk away with a new attitude about myself and also with the knowledge that I could conquer hard things. I will never forget the experiences I had there and will cherish the friendships I made forever. During the showcase night we preformed a pirate opening number where we each introduced ourselves to the audience and judges.
